The small print
Delete your account
The short version
- In the app, go to You then Delete my data and tap Delete everything. Your account and everything in it go at once, and there is no undo.
- Our live systems are empty straight away, but for the few things under What stays. Our backups clear within 30 days.
- Deleting does not cancel getWear+. Cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings first, or Apple keeps charging. How to cancel.
- No longer have the app? Write to us from the address you signed in with, and we delete your account within a month.
In the app
- Open and go to You.
- Tap Delete my data. The app says what it removes.
- Tap Delete everything, or Keep my account to change your mind.
- The app shows Your account is deleted, with the date and what was removed. That is your receipt.
If it has been a while since you signed in, the app asks you to sign in again first: tap Sign in again, sign in the way you always do, and ask once more. There is no password to re-enter, so signing in again is how we know it is you.
Want a copy first? You then Export my data makes one archive of everything you gave us, ready to download for seven days. Make it before you delete, because afterwards there is nothing left to export.
What goes, and when
Everything goes in one go, photos first:
- your account, and every phone signed in to it;
- your photos: of your pieces, of yourself and every try-on;
- your wardrobe, and every order you forwarded us;
- your looks, and every look you shared, whose link stops working;
- what you told us, what you wore and what you said about it;
- everything Romy noted, and your conversations with her;
- what you saved from the shops, and your link to Pinterest with Romy’s read of your boards;
- the consents you gave, and the beta feedback you sent.
We also ask PostHog to erase your analytics identity. If a photo cannot be deleted, we stop there: the photos that could be are gone, your account and everything else stay as they were, the app tells you, and you can try again. A request that never reached us deletes nothing either, and the app says so.
Our live systems are empty at once, and our backups roll off within 30 days.
What stays
A few things are not ours to delete, or no longer point to you:
- Apple’s records. Apple keeps its own record of what you bought, under its own privacy policy.
- Your plan at RevenueCat, which keeps track of plans for us under an id without your name. Write to us and we remove it there too.
- Counts with no one in them: how the app was used each day, the cost of the AI work done for you, and the receipt itself, which says how much was removed and when, and holds nothing that points to you.
- A forwarded email may still sit with Resend, our email service, for its own retention period.
- Your Pins and boards stay on Pinterest, which is where they always were.
- What you wrote to us at [email protected] stays in our mailbox, and an address you left on this website’s waitlist stays on it. Ask, and we delete both.
Your subscription
Deleting your account does not cancel getWear+. Apple sells it and Apple charges for it, so Apple keeps charging your Apple ID until you cancel it there, even once your account is gone. Cancel first: on your iPhone, Settings then your name then Subscriptions then getWear then Cancel Subscription. How to cancel has the steps, and Apple’s own help.
Sign in with Apple
If you signed in with Apple, your Apple ID lists among the apps you sign in to with it. Deleting your account may leave it on that list, so look there afterwards and remove it yourself: on your iPhone, open Settings then your name then Sign in with Apple, choose and tap Delete. Apple explains it in Manage your apps with Sign in with Apple.
Removing there only signs you out of it on that phone. It does not delete your account, so delete that in the app first.
If you no longer have the app
Write to us from the email address of your account: the one you sign in with, or your Google account’s or your Apple ID’s address. If you hid your email with Apple, write from your Apple ID’s address and say so.
- Subject
- Delete my getWear account
We check that the request comes from the account’s address. If it does not, we ask you one or two questions to be sure it is yours, because deleting someone else’s account cannot be undone. Then we delete your account and everything in it, as above, and reply to say it is done, within a month at the latest.
Deleting by email does not cancel getWear+ either: cancel it with Apple as well.
